I, as most people do I'm sure, started my dog grooming with the best of intentions and biggest of ambitions. Reality soon set in! No-one mentioned how much hard work it would be, how physically exhausting it is and how horribly seasonal the dog grooming industry is.
As the child of parents who always had always owned and operated their own businesses (first in the takeaway food industry and then as the owners of a 2nd biggest AutObarn franchise in the country) I had always yearned to own my own business and being crazy for canines, a dog grooming salon seemed like the perfect fit!
I started strong and after some initial teething problems, I was on my way! But something wasn't quite right and it wasn't until I met Dan Barton, founder of the Splash and Dash licensing agreement and the Splash and Dash Groomerie and Boutique franchise in America that I realised that my business, like many others was missing a vital ingredient - regular cash flow!
Very quickly, Dan and I were in negotiations to bring Splash and Dash to Australia, and we haven't looked back! Klipt Kanines has gone from being a pretty good business with moderately ok potential to a very busy salon with fantastic prospects. Not only has the grooming side of my business benefitted from the regular monthly income that Splash and Dash brings but the increased foot traffic has increased the retail side of my business exponentially!
